im jus kinda upset with the world. And again, i shall relentlessly go on about it. We live in a sad sad sad world. But sadder than even that, is my bank account. Altho something at the back of mind whispers that UOB might hav swindled my money to invest in China, the speed at which i indulge in the wonders of technology such as atm transfers, debit signing and NETs-ing is dazzaling. *delusions*
Lets go back to our "sad sad world" topic. SEx sells. Simple as that. The very concept of beauty has , no doubt, evolved over time. SEx symbols such as Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn frm thegood ol 50s and 60s may be considered classic beauties but they no longer fit in. SO, who are the sex symbols of today??Pamela Anderson, Carmen Electra, Paris Hilton, Beyonce and the list goes on...Today, less is more. More booty shakin, more skin and loads more of air brushing is all it takes. which is rather sad. The sex symbols of today are more or less porn stars. If you think about it, there is really something degenerative that is happening to our society, and it is pretty much unstoppable. It's unstoppable cuz it's the media which is perpetuating the concept and unless you live in a cave in Antartica, there is pretty much nothing you can do. We've often heard that the media is a reflection of the society that we live in. I read somewhere that porn stars often emulate normal average women. and well, since they're porn STARS, eventually, normal women start fashioning themselves aft them. Thus, the vicious cycle goes on and on and on.( think about it. first paris hilton's sex video then it is our very own local belle tammy frm nyp..it catches on..either consciously or subconsciously)
Sex sells. But i like the new Nelly Furtado. i like her revamped new image and i like the way she pulls it off. She's cool.way cool. I like the way she asks in the beginning of her video, " am i throwing you off?...dint think so". i remember asking someone that a coupla weeks ago. Its cool. You show that u aint no pushover, you can think for urself and u aint gonna wait but take matters into ur own hands. And Furtado flirts like crazae in the whole entire " Promiscuous girl" music video but there's a part when the rapper suggests.." let yer guard down.. i know a place we can go" and she snaps back." wad kinda girl you take me for?" That is waaaaaaaaay cooler than " im tellin u to LoOsen up my buttons baby..but i see u frontin, .....i cant seem to get you over here to help take this off, cant u see, how these clothes are fitting me.." * SLAp Forehead* there is a thin line btw sexy and being oversexed. Oh well, if you cant fit into mind the earlier lyrics, they are from BUTTONS..Pussycat dolls.
I watched the music video with two of my 12year old cousins. I jus cant wait to for them turn 16 and watch wad they've turned into, thanks to this kinda exposure. REally, im no prude and this entire essay may sound a tad bit hypocritical, especially if ure Chinni( *muacks muacks*)..but..hahaha..i think a lap dance and a pole dance really pushes a limit of a music video. Certain things are reserved to clubs, or strip clubs. hellooo..they're kids watching MTV and i know the PussyCat girls were club performers. I think they should remain jus there and be slaved to their very own image of sex objects. I read an interview in which the lead singer of PCD felt that she is representing a confidant, independent woman of the new ages. Personally, I feel that she is rather representing the exact opposite. By appealing to our sensual side, we're jus functioning as eye candy and thus sexual objects. Instead of being worthy of the equal rights that we are given at large, in this century, we're regressing into the times of the dark ages where women were only judged by their bodies. Whatever happened to being formindable opponents of calibre? and look into us and not at us??
What happened to the dreams of a girl president? She's dancing in a video next to 50cent. Where have all the smart people gone? All in all, kudos to Nelly Furtado for being a sassy, sexy, confidant new age woman and to PCD...Thanks, but i dont think i wanna be in a "Stupid girl", in the famous words of Pink. haa.
jus felt like bloggin abt this today. The flu bug must hav travelled to my brain. Carpe diem sistas
